The State Fair signals the approach of my favorite time of year. Every year the vibrant colors of autumn and cool fall breezes are ushered in by the bright lights and sharp aromas of the vendors and the scent of boiled-over antifreeze. Ahh, the demolition derby...maybe the most iconic of redneck games. My first time coming to the Hopkinton State Fair was 2006 and I look forward to many more. They do it right.
on Bradley Lake in Andover, NH, hosted their first homemade boat regatta on Sunday afternoon. A half dozen thrown-together-quickly boats were entered. Hopefully this will be an annual event. The pirates had the most elaborate boat...they can probably keep it around and tool around the lake just for the heck of it. It seemed pretty sturdy and well built, not to mention comfortable to kick back on.
